FIRST IN LINE | LAST IN LINE – THE FIRST TO ENTER SAY THEIR FINAL GOODBYES

While the hands they are now holding are different from picture to picture, they are all equally loved in the lives of Shawna and Mike Erminger, who were the very first couple scheduled to wed at Agave Road in Katy, Texas.  Agave Road is a sister venue to Agave Real – one of two venues owned by Agave Estates | Agave Rio. Over the following 10 years that these buildings have been icons in the wedding industry, they have seen their fair share of Texas weather issues — particularly Hurricanes.   Ironically the Erminger’s wedding, which was originally planned for September 14, 2008, was postponed when Hurricane Ike rolled into town. Now, 10 years later, it was Hurricane Harvey that closed the doors of Agave Road forever.

Shawna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Richards of League City, who are the owners of Butler’s Courtyard; another enchanting wedding venue in the area, and when their daughter’s wedding was cancelled due to the storm they pleaded with Shawna to move the nuptials to their venue and not wait to be rescheduled.  They even offered a financial bonus if she would, but Shawna’s heart was set on the Spanish elegance that was and still is Agave.  While it wasn’t the optimal wedding date, Shawna and Mike decided to move the date to Friday, November 27th, the day after Thanksgiving, in 2008 — and the rest is history.

Now as we move into engagement season, Agave Road, which hosted more than 100 weddings and special events, per year, for the past 10 years, now sits empty and quiet.  The walls that were once filled with laughter and merriment now echo with the silence that Hurricane Harvey brought, and the property is for sale.

The 50+ weddings and events that were booked for 2018 have now been moved to the sister venue and Agave has now rebranded themselves as Agave Estates.

Love will continue to unite down the street at the tranquil, romantic retreat that is Agave Estates and although Agave Road will exist no more, it will forever be a cherished memory in the hearts of so many that started their lives there.
